Manipal hospital’s application seeking organ transplant, which was pending for a year, is in the process of being cleared. The health minister said he has given the hospital a go-head.The newly commissioned 250-bed Healthway hospital is also keen to have an organ transplant facility. There has to be a team in place that counsels the family and explains to them the possibility of donating the deceased person’s organs. Facility allows matching tissues of a prospective donor and recipient.The Goa Medical College (GMC) has been doing live kidney transplants since 2011 and, till date, have carried out 18 transplants.
