Summary:

Parrikar was the defence minister when India inked an inter-government agreement with France for purchase of 36 fighter jets in fly-away condition. “Also certain prominent persons in the government are talking in hushed tones of a ‘maha-thug’ who is seeking to control everything.”The All India Congress Committee released a leaked audio recording in Delhi in which Rane, purportedly is heard telling an unidentified person that Parrikar told his cabinet colleagues that he has the Rafale deal files in his bedroom at his private residence at Dona Paula. Parrikar has rubbished Congress’s claims and said that the released audio was “fabricated”.Congress claims that Parrikar is using the files to blackmail Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to hold on to his post as the chief minister of the state.“Surely, the security and defence of the country cannot be allowed to be compromised in bedrooms,” Chodankar said. Parrikar allegedly made the comments during a cabinet meeting.“In the light of the above scenario, on behalf of the Congress and all Goans, I request that the best security cover may be provided and existing security may be enhanced, so that he is adequately protected from all possible threats,” Chodankar said.Congress also wants Parrikar to reveal the files to the nation without any fear or favour. PANAJI: Apprehensive over attempts on the life of chief minister Manohar Parrikar , Congress has written to President Ram Nath Kovind and has urged the Rashtrapati Bhavan to enhance Parrikar’s security cover. In light of the revelations made in a recent telephone conversation allegedly between BJP minister Vishwajit Rane and an unidentified person indicating that Parrikar possessed documents on the Rafale fighter aircraft deal, Congress feels that attempts will be made by the central BJP leadership to grab the alleged files.“Attempts on Parrikar’s life may be made to obtain the files by those who want that actual details of Rafale deal should not come in public domain as the corruption in the deal will be proved,” said Congress state unit president Girish Chodankar..
