Teltumbde files prearrest bail plea in Pune

On December 31, 2017, the Elagar Parishad was held at Shaniwarwada on the eve of the 200th anniversary of Koregaon Bhima battle. It is the prosecution’s case that the alleged provocative speeches by speakers at the Parishad led to the caste clashes at Koregaon Bhima and adjoining villages on January 1, 2018. Anand Teltumbde, one of the accused in the Elgar Parishad case, filed an anticipatory bail application before the special court in Pune on Friday, four days after the Supreme Court dismissed a plea to quash the first information report (FIR) against him on Monday.Teltumbde currently heads the big data analytics programme at the Goa Institute of Management and resides in the state. The Pune police had searched his Goa residence without a warrant on August 28 last year and he was never summoned for investigation till date.Teltumbde has pleaded for bail on the ground that there was no evidence against him..
