Drinking, cooking in public to attract fines up to Rs 10,000

The proposed amendment will be tabled in the three-day assembly session starting on Tuesday next week, Azgaonkar said.It has been observed that many tourists carry alcohol bottles with them to the beach, which they then discard in the sand. Sometimes, broken glass bottles are left behind in the sand, and there have been instances of visitors to the beach sustaining injuries because of the shards. It has been proposed that no person engaged in the business of sale of liquor shall allow customers to carry bottles or cans containing liquor in tourist places.Guests to beach shacks sometimes buy alcohol and take it with them to drink elsewhere..
