Quepem: Judicial magistrate first class (JMFC), Margao has issued a second non-bailable arrest warrant within ten months against Quepem councillor Amol Kanekar. He was later released on bail after furnishing 25% of the amount.JMFC Ashwini Khandolkar, in her judgment order dated January 1, 2018, had directed the accused to pay compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the complainant Safiya Bi Shaikwithin 30 days or, in default, to undergo imprisonment for 90 days.However, since Kanekar failed to pay the amount within 30 days and, subsequently, the sessions court judge rejected his appeal, the JMFC directed police to arrest him..
