Builder’s widow seeks CBI probe into his suicide

GURUGRAM: The widow of a city-based developer , Vinod Sharma, who committed suicide earlier this month allegedly due to pressure from a senior officer of the Gurugram police, has demanded a CBI probe into the case.On Tuesday, Meenu Sharma, a Sector 54 resident along with other family members, met Gurugram deputy commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh to press for the demand.She alleged that the police were not investigating the case properly and were trying to shield their officer. She also submitted bank details, showing transactions from accounts of the accused DCP’s family members to that of Vinod, and vice versa.The 48-year-old developer shot himself in the chest in his The Summit home on July 4, and eventually succumbed to his injuries on July 7.The police had found a suicide note in which Vinod had held Delhi-based businessman Arvind Lakra responsible for his death. Accordingly, an FIR was filed against Lakra and his family under Section 306 (abatement to suicide) of the IPC.Later, in her complaint, Meenu accused a DCP, currently posted in Gurugram, and his family members, apart from Lakra, of abating her husband’s suicide.She alleged her husband was forced to transfer a flat in Surya Vihar to the names of the DCP’s wife and mother in December 2017..
