Gurugram now has 900 cops to better traffic flow

Our ultimate aim is to have a better traffic flow,” said Sulochana Gajaraj, DCP (traffic), Gurugram. Previously, traffic cops were working on a 14-hour shift— from 7am to 9pm and 7 pm to 9am. Until the beginning of 2017, there were only 330 traffic cops to manage over 20 lakh vehicles in the city on a daily basis. Of this, over 500 cops have fixed spots across Gurugram, and another 250 cops will work on a rotational basis. The number of traffic policemen in the city has increased almost three-fold in the past one and a half years — from 330 in January 2017 to 900 now.These 900 policemen include over 150 homeguards and special police officers..
