No trade licence, MCG seals 55 spas

GURUGRAM: The MCG on Monday sealed 55 spas across several malls for operating without a trade licence. MCG officials said notices had been issued to several establishments falling under zone-4.“We had issued notices asking them to apply for trade licence, failing which we sealed them. More such drives are likely in the future and all the people running businesses in the city are requested to get their trade licences,” MCG commissioner Yashpal Yadav said.Having achieved a substantial amount of recovery in the collection of due property taxes, MCG has recently turned its focus towards trade licences. Most of these spas are located on Sohna road According to the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1984, it is mandatory to have a trade licence for running a commercial business within the city’s municipal limits. An internal survey had earlier been done to assess which businesses are running without trade licences in the city.There are around 1.5 lakh commercial establishments of various sizes in Gurugram, including cinema halls, hotels, shops, bakeries and jewellers, and more than 90% of these have not renewed their licences or applied for a licence at all, sources said.Trade licences are issued before the inception of a business and are required to be renewed annually..
