Drivers of app cabs protest ‘unfair’ rules

GURUGRAM: Drivers working with a cab aggregator staged a protest in front of the mini secretariat on Wednesday against ‘exploitation’ by the company and submitted a memorandum to city magistrate Manisha Sharma.Pradeep Singh, state general secretary of Congress, who supported the cab drivers in the protest, said, “The cab aggregator has reduced these drivers to bonded labourers. The rules came into effect this month but it is charging fines from drivers who exceeding the 200km limit in August. It charges their customers at the rate of Rs 27/km but pays only Rs 6.30/km to the drivers. Now, it has enforced new rules under which those driving more than 200km a day will have to pay a penalty of Rs 4/km.
