Haryana notifies regularisation of 535 colonies

Over 200 more colonies are still being examined and are likely to be declared as areas deficient in civic amenities and infrastructure soon. Before this, the development charges used to be fixed arbitrarily.Till now, 93 colonies — 32 in Gurgaon, nine in Faridabad , 23 in Karnal and 29 in Panipat — have been declared as civic amenities and infrastructure deficient municipal areas by the Haryana government. CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday approved notification of 535 different colonies under the Haryana Management of Civic Amenities and Infrastructure Municipal Areas (Special Provisions) Act, 2016, paving the way for provisioning of major essential services in these colonies.Out of these 535 colonies, 254 fall in the municipal corporations, 100 in municipal councils and 181 in municipal committees.The statutory fee for development charges has been fixed at only 5 per cent of the collector’s rate in a major relief for the residents of these colonies..
