Illegal weapon supplier arrested

JIND: The Jind police on Sunday arrested an arms supplier with seven country-made pistols that were to be delivered in various part of Haryana.The accused has been identified as Sabir (32), a resident of Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh.Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Arun Nehra said the police received a tip off that the accused came to Safidon to supply illegal weapons to some criminals, after which a team of the intelligence wing arrested him.Nehra said the police have succeeded in recovering 125 illegal weapons from criminals since January 2018. The police are trying to find out Sabir’s connection to Haryana so as to know about criminals who buy illegal arms and commit crime, the SSP said, adding that the police have recovered five country-made pistols (.315) bore and 2 pistols (.12) bore from the possession of the accused.Safidon police station house officer Samarjeet said, a case has been registered against him under sections of the Arms Act and was produced in the court that sent him to two-day police remand..
