Graded plan to combat pollution kicks in

On Monday, the Environment Pollution Control Authority (EPCA) had directed Haryana government to roll out contract buses in NCR cities for the same. “We have already started the mechanised sweeping of roads and sprinkling water on roads and unpaved stretches every two days. GURUGRAM : MCG has started implementing Graded Response Action Plan ( GRAP measures to combat the rising levels of pollution in the city,Following a meeting in September with ministry of environment and forest and climate change officials, the MCG had drawn up a list of measures that will implemented as the pollution levels in the city go up during the winter. Once these stretches have been identified, mechanised sweeping will be carried out.MCG commissioner Yashpal Yadav said that while some of the measures are being implemented now, others will also kick in if the pollution levels deteriorate further. There is also a provision to increase the parking fees by 3-4 times so as to encourage people to use public transport instead of private vehicles only..
