Woman gets burns as candle falls on her kurta at Gurugram hotel

So, her doctor had advised the family to stay out of Delhi for a few days and wait for the pollution levels to come down.A case was registered against the hotel staff under IPC Section 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) on Friday. Investigating officer ASI Bablu Singh said, “The complainant’s wife’s dress caught fire and she sustained injuries.” He added that the family was back in Delhi.A Lemon Tree Hotel official told TOI, “Candles and diyas are kept at all places, including hotels, on Diwali and there was no negligence on the part of the hotel staff.” “We were making enquiries at the reception area when a candle, which had been kept under the reception desk, fell on my wife’s cotton kurta and it caught fire,” Singh said, adding that his wife received burns on half of her body, starting from her leg till the neck.In his complaint to police, Singh has alleged that the candle was placed such that they could not see it and when he attempted to douse the fire, he also sustained burn injuries on his hands..
