MCG probe into outsourced staff’s hiring to start today

Gurgaon: The probe into more than 1,750 staff outsourced by MCG will finally begin on Monday. He had demanded inquiry into the hiring process of contract employees , and whether MCG needed 1,750 outsourced staff.At present, the corporation is functioning with only 249 staffers, which is less than half the sanctioned strength of 524. But it had hired 1,750 employees through the outsourcing route, in addition to 2,000 sanitation workers provided by five private firms, and was paying Rs 3.75 crore every month to these 1,750 employees as wage bill.Now, after repeated questioning, departmental heads have provided details of all outsourced staff attached with their departments. TOI had revealed in report on January 18, 2018, that MCG is facing questions about how it hired contract staff, who number seven times that of official posts, amid allegations that its coffers are being burdened by an unreasonable wage bill.Following TOI’s report, MCG launched a probe against the firm that supplies manpower.
