Haryana: Gang of battery thieves busted in Rewari, 10 held

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang of thieves allegedly involved in stealing batteries from parked vehicles and mobile towers in Rewari The police have arrested 10 members of the gang.A police official said that members of the gang were arrested near village Asalwas while they were planning to steal batteries from vehicles. Stolen goods worth lakh of rupees were also recovered from them.All the accused were sent to two-day police remand after they were produced in a court. Most of the arrested persons belong to Rajasthan. They used to carry out recce first and then commit the crime during the night hours.Those arrested have been identified as Ganpat, Oma alias Om Parkash and Laxman, Akash, Rattan and Kanha, all from Rajasthan, Monu, Sanjay and Mahesh from Haryana and Shahid, a resident of Ghaziabad.During the preliminary interrogation, the accused have confessed to have committed more than 20 thefts in Rewari..
