March deadline for road to link Sector 66, 67 with Sohna Road

Gurgaon | Sunday | 18th November, 2018

Summary:

A notice to acquire land for the road between sectors 66 and 67 was issued in 2010, while the awards were announced in 2012. However, at least nine property owners approached the Punjab and Haryana high court, demanding a change in the road alignment. This led to a delay in the process of land acquisition as well as the road project. However, Huda has now decided to conduct draws to provide alternative plots and fixed March 2019 as deadline to complete the road, said sources. Comprising Huda administrator Dr Chandrashekhar Khare, estate officer Bharat Bhushan Gogia, district town planner (planning) RS Batth and land acquisition officer Naurang Rai, the committee will also decide the size of alternative plots to be given to the selected allottees.Officials said the committee would make the decisions on the basis of a recent survey conducted by Huda that identified houses and commercial establishments coming in the way of the proposed road. Gurugram: Sectors 66 and 67 are most likely to have direct access to Sohna Road by March next year, reducing travel time for thousands of residents in these two areas.Currently, commuters from the two sectors take long detours through internal roads to Southern Peripheral Road for reaching Vatika Chowk. However, once the proposed sector dividing road — 84-metre wide and one-and-a-half-kilometre long — near Badshapur is ready, they can take Sohna Road to reach Vatika Chowk.Huda will provide alternate plots to people whose properties are falling in the right of way and thus, face demolition.A screening committee will hold a meeting in the last week of November to identify property owners eligible for alternative plots under the rehabilitation and resettlement policy..
