Summary:

GURUGRAM: The MCG has decided to start imposing fines on owners of households if they fail to segregate waste. Sources said many of the waste collecting vehicles do not have compartments to carry segregated waste separately. This waste will be taken to the Bandhwari waste site and turned into compost . Once we have completed the campaign, we will start issuing fines to those who do not segregate the waste at source,” said a senior MCG official. The waste has to be segregated into two categories — dry waste and wet waste. Most of this waste will be recycled or taken away by rag pickers who have been recently integrated into Gurugram’s waste management system. The waste segregation and composting at Bandhwari has not yet begun as the site receives unsegregated waste..
