MCG orders closure of unauthorised meat shops, slaughterhouses

GURUGRAM: Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon ( MCG ) on Thursday issued orders for closure of all unauthorised meat shops and slaughterhouses in the city.MCG officials do not have the exact number of such establishments but it has, as of now, issued licences to 108 meat shops in Gurgaon.Moreover, the corporation has also issued notices to licensed meat-sellers, asking them to stop procuring meat from unauthorised slaughterhouses.Officials warned that action would be taken against unauthorised meat-sellers under Section 338 of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994.The decision comes after MCG empanelled two private agencies — Gitwako India Firms Pvt Ltd and AOV Agro foods Pvt Ltd — to provide slaughterhouse facilities and meat to meat-sellers in the city..
