IIT-G intake of girls to rise by 6% to meet Centre's decision

"A total of 57 additional seats have been created at undergraduate level in IIT-G to meet the goal of minimum 14% seats to be earmarked for girls in every undergraduate course in engineering taught at the institute. It further stated that the initiative aims at ensuring that at least 14 percent seats for females in 2018, without reduction in the number of seats to be made available for non-females. "Non-females will compete for seats in gender-neutral vertical only. Females will first compete for seats in female vertical, and if it is full, then in gender-neutral vertical, thereby ensuring that girls are not denied any opportunity due to them on merit," said the letter.
