Waters recede in Assam, but 87,000 still hit in Golaghat

It added that 120 relief camps still remain operational in Golaghat district sheltering 25,944 people. The number of affected districts, too, reduced from five to one with Golaghat being the lone district. At present, the Brahmaputra, Dhansiri and Jia Bharali are flowing above the danger mark at Nimatighat (Jorhat), Numaligarh (Golaghat) and NT Road Crossing (Sonitpur) respectively. However, 116 villages are still under water and 7,085 hectares of crop area remains affected as on Monday, said the ASDMA report. Till Sunday, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Darrang, Golaghat and Sivasagar were in the grip of the second wave of deluge.As the flood situation has improved, no fresh death due to floods was reported from any part of the state in the last 24 hours..
