GUWAHATI/SILIGURI: An earthquake of 5.5 magnitude with epicentre in Kokrajhar rocked Assam and neighbouring Meghalaya West Bengal , Jharkhand and Bihar on Wednesday. The quake, measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale, was also felt in Kolkata.Assam, along with other north-eastern states, is located in the seismically active Zone V. In Assam, the quake damaged buildings in many places across Kokrajhar, Chirang and Dhubri districts.The tremors felt in Bengal's Siliguri triggered panic that led to the accidental death of a 22-year-old youth at Binoypara in the town's Santinagar locality..
