At least five killed in firing in Assam's Tinsukia district

GUWAHATI: At least five people were killed in indiscriminate firing by unidentified gunmen at Kherbari near the Dhola-Sadiya bridge over Brahmaputra in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Thursday evening.Though no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, police have not ruled out the involvement of Ulfa (Independent) militants. On October 13, Ulfa (I) was involved in a low-intensity blast on the bank of Brahmaputra at Fancy Bazar in which five people were injured.The incident took place about 30km from Tinsukia town in upper Assam at around 8.30pm.
