Fake currency racket busted in Darrang, 2 held

GUWAHATI: Darrang Police on Monday busted a fake currency racket and held two persons from from Kehutoli village in the district. The arrested duo, Imanul Haque and Rafique Ali, who are both in their twenties, were allegedly involved in the business of printing fake Indian currency notes. "The police team seized 46 counterfeit Indian currency notes in the denomination of Rs 100, a laptop, a CPU, a printer and a lamination machine. Assam 's South Salmara-Mankachar, Dhubri, Hailakandi, Darrang, Cachar and Karbi Anglong are believed to be the hotbed of these activities. The accused are in judicial custody now," a police officer said.Following reports that a huge cache of fake currency notes have entered the country through the Bangladesh border and they are being used in terror financing, state police has stepped up its efforts to crackdown on these rackets..
