But on Thursday evening, the gateway to North East was plunged into chaos as rains dragged Guwahati to a standstill puncturing Dispur's tall claims on making it a Smart City. In spite of extensive drainage works being carried out by the district administration; waterlogging still remains a menace for the city residents. The rains that provided comfort from the blistering heat on Thursday evening flooded the GS Road, RGB Road, and various others.
