Staff ReporterGUWAHATI: The Department of Food and Civil Supplies (F&CS), Assam is contemplating on providing subsidized dal (pulses) to all cardholders under the NFSA (National Food Security Act) in the State. The department is now assessing the quantity of dal to be required per month and the monetary involvement, besides the source of procurement for the scheme if implemented in the State. The department is going to seek the views of the Finance Department on the scheme before giving it the final shape. If the Food and Civil Supplies department gets a positive note from the Finance Department on the issue, the proposed scheme is likely to become a reality from the coming financial year.
