Rule being drafted for jobs of martyrs kin says Assam Government

Staff ReporterGUWAHATI: The State government has informed the Assam Assembly that a new rule is being drafted to ensure appointment to the next of kin of Assam Agitation martyrs who were left out from getting government jobs earlier. Raising the issue on the floor of the Assam Assembly on Wednesday, AGP MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita requested the government to ensure government jobs for Assam Agitation martyrs' kin who have not got government jobs. On behalf of the Assam Accord Implementation Minister, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said, “During the AGP regime over 500 next of kin of Assam Agitation martyrs were given government jobs under the APS (PA) Rules, 1999 on compassionate ground. At that time some of the kin of martyrs were either underage or under-qualified.
