APCC President Ripun Bora moves DGP Assam protesting police torture

STAFF REPORTERGUWAHATI: APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) president Ripun Bora wrote a letter to the Director-General of Police, Assam over the 'increasing number of incidents of police torture against people who came out on roads during the lockdown'. In his letter, Bora stated that the entire people of the country are now under serious mental tension. “I must admit that those who have come out to roads, definitely they have defied Government orders, it is an offence. But considering the social situation, the mental tension of the people, I think it will be better for police to send them back, politely, to motivate the people not to come out inspite of torturing and beating”, Bora added.
