Assam to import oxygen from Bhutan, Health Min says 'No Lockdown'

Following the instruction of the Health, Finance and Education Minister of Assam Government, Dr.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of State for Health Piyush Hazarika and Rajya Sabha MP Bishwajit Daimari reached Samdrup Jhangkhar in East Bhutan on Sunday.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Hemant Biswa said that there would be no shortage of Remedesivir injection in Assam, as the pharmaceutical manufacturer Sun Pharma has been requested to increase its production to 80,000 vials per week at its Palasbadi plant.

The Health Minister said during this period that there will not be any oxygen crisis in Assam, because we have decided to import oxygen from Bhutan, a new oxygen plant has been set up in Bhutan.

Sarma further said that the situation in Assam is fine and the situation is under our control, so there is no need to impose a lockdown.
