Mob lynches 28-year-old man in Assam's Tinsukia on suspicion of cow theft, 12 arrested

A 28-year-old man, suspected to be a cow thief, was lynched by a mob on Saturday in a village in Assam`s Tinsukia district.

However, the victim`s accomplice fled the spot.

Police have detained 12 people in the case.

Tinsukia SP Debojit Deori said that the incident took place in the early hours of Saturday at Korjonga Borpathar village under Baghjan police station in the district when the two were found near a shed built for keeping cows in a house.

The police have constituted a special investigation team headed by the Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ), which will probe the matter, an official said.

The Special Investigation Team has detained 12 suspects of the village in this case.
