Five low-lying bridges submerged in Chikkodi

Summary:

Belagavi: Five low-lying bridge cum barrages have submerged in Chikkodi taluk following incessant rainfall in Konkan area of Maharashtra and catchment areas of river Krishna since the past four days.Following heavy rain, river Krishna and its tributaries Vedganga and Doodhganga are in full spate. Water is flowing over the bridge between Kallol and Yadur on Krishna river.Bridges between Jatrat- Bhivashi, Akkol- Hunnaragi and Bhojwadi- Kunnur on Vedganga river and Malikwad- Dattawad bridge on Doodhganga river have submerged. Sadalaga- Borgaon bridge too is on the verge of being submerged.Police have diverted traffic on these stretches. The district administration is keeping a close watch on the water level of rivers and has alerted villagers near river banks to move to safer places.There is in no threat of flood right now since the reservoirs in Maharashtra are yet to be full..
