Dharwad: The importance of radiation and treatment with radiopharmaceuticals to diagnose and treat various diseases including cancer has increased in the past 10 years and there is lot of scope for research in this field, said M B Chetti, vice-chancellor of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad.He spoke after inaugurating a national symposium on Radiation and Radiopharmaceuticals for Health Care, organized by Soniya Education Trust’s College of Pharmacy here on Saturday. “The Board of Research in Nuclear Science ( BRNS ), Mumbai is providing a lot of encouragement for research in radiotherapy , agriculture and many other such fields and lot of progress has been achieved in this field,” he said.BRNS programme officer Dr S Dutta said the board was ready to provide any assistance to scientists who are interested to take up quality research on radiopharmaceuticals.Soniya Education Trust president Hanumant Dambal said the college has always given more importance for quality education and research and requested students to take advantage of it.Dr Rayala Suresh Kumar of IIT, Chennai and Dr Ganesh Venkatraman of Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education, Chennai deliberated on relevant topics..
