Three jatras attract lakhs to Belagavi dist

This year’s fair started on February 19 will end on 28.Temple authorities are expecting over 15 lakh devotees to visit the temple during the annual fair. Belagavi: Lakhs of devotees from Maharashtra are thronging Belagavi district to attend three ongoing jatras of Renuka Yallamma at Savadatti, Mahalaxmi in Khanapur and Chinchali Mayakka in Raibag taluk.The Mahalaxmi fair in Khanapur, held once in 12 years, started on February 20 and will be on till 28. Lakhs of devotees from across the state and also from other states, a majority of them from Maharashtra are in the town to take a darshan of the deity.The preparations for this fair had started six months ago. Temple authorities are expecting over 25 lakh devotees to take darshan of the deity during the duration of the fair.The Mayakka jatre at Chinchali in Raibag taluk is another large-scale fair that takes place in Belagavi district. Last year, devotees from Maharashtra had protested on the temple premises urging for better infrastructure around the temple.This year’s fair started on the full moon day of Bharat Hunnime on February 19 and will continue for more than 10 days..
