Summary:

Belagavi: The district administration has approved a Rs 1.94-crore contingency plan to provide drinking water to Belagavi city. The storage level at Rakaskopp reservoir , one of the sources of drinking water to the city, has reached dead storage level. It has installed four 30 HP capacity pump sets from which nearly five to six MGD liters of water is being lifted daily. If monsoon is delayed for a week in the catchment areas under Chandagad region of Maharashtra, Belagavi will reel under severe water crisis. In such a scenario, the city could expect supply of tap water once a week which would be supplied from Hidakal reservoir, which is yet to record inflow..
