New houses elude families who lost land to Hubballi airport development

Hubballi: Even as the Airport Authority of India is all set to inaugurate its new terminal of Hubballi airport on Tuesday, Ashraya residents of Jagadish Nagar, who lost their houses for its development, are still waiting for new houses since two years.The state government acquired around 750 acres of land for the upgrade of Hubballi Airport to international standards. For the extension of runway, about 4 acres and 10 guntas of land was also acquired in Jagadish Nagar by displacing 188 families in 2015. "We had a several meetings with the district administration and other officers before vacating our houses for the development of the airport.
