Cabinet panel to recommend bill on road safety

more-inThe Cabinet Sub-Committee on Road Safety has decided to recommend to State Government to bring a bill for making a legislation on road safety and for constitution of a full-fled State Road Safety Authority headed by a DGP-rank official and members from other departments concerned. The team of officials that visited Kerala to study the road safety measures initiated by that State Government submitted their report to the Cabinet panel and also explained how Kerala Government is implementing the act on road safety. Chaired by Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, the committee met here on Monday and discussed various issues related to road safety in detail. Although Telangana was in ahead of other States in the country in the matter of road safety and preventive measures against accidents, the Minister added that there still is huge scope for improvement compared to the world standards. According to officials, the meeting discussed the action plan for taking up an awareness drive for vehicle drivers, preparing plans to prevent accidents after identifying black spots and including road safety in school curriculum..
