No more 360-step trek, ramp will ease ‘ziyarat’ for elderly in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Keeping in mind the old and disabled, Telangana State Waqf Board (TSWB) officials have begun construction of a motorable ramp at Dargah of Hazrat Syedna Baba Sharfuddin at Pahadi Shareef on a war-footing.Currently, the pilgrims have to climb 360 steps to reach the dargah for ziyarat (visitation of shrine). “Last year, my parents faced a lot of difficulty climbing these steps. The work has started and will be completed within nine months,” Qasim added.Apart from constructing a motorable ramp, which will allow two-wheelers and four wheelers to go up to the dargah, the Waqf Board officials under the guidance of the state government have also laid a carpet on 360 steps. According to Waqf Board officials, the construction of motorable ramp and a parking space for vehicles will be taken up at a cost of ?9.6 crore.“The government gave a proposal for construction of the ramp at the beginning of this year and sanctioned it for creating a motorable ramp of 950 feet, through which pilgrims can reach the dargah, located on a hill top, in vehicles,” said Shahnawaz Qasim, CEO, TSWB.“The parking lot being created at the premises will have space for around 60 vehicles..
