Build roads for longevity: Tummala

Hyderabad: Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao today directed the officials concerned to complete on a war-footing the works pertaining to the national highways across the State. “So far, we have constructed 5500 km long roads and the rest of the works of the roads were going on, he said. By the time of State formation, there were 24,950km long roads comprising 70 per cent of single line roads of 16864 km length, he said. However, the TRS Government has accorded top priority for national highways and expansion of the existing roads in the State, he said. The State government has allocated Rs 12,000 crore for expansion of 9000-km long roads as national highways which will give a fillip for the State’s prosperity, the minister maintained..
