Centre nod for soya bean, groundnut procurement

Summary:

The Ministry has asked the Nafed to completed the procurement within 90 days from October 11, when the orders were issued. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has given its nod for procurement of 70,250 tonnes of soyabean and 8,750 tonnes of groundnut in Telangana during the ongoing kharif marketing season with National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (Nafed) as the procurement agency. The Agriculture Ministry has asked Nafed to procure the two crops with the minimum support price (MSP) of ? 3,399 per quintal and ?4,890 per quintal, respectively, with quality specifications prescribed in the price support scheme. According to officials, separate communication to the effect for the two crops was received by them on Saturday. Further, the Ministry has asked the State government to provide revolving fund equivalent to at least 15 days of procurement cost and to ensure that the payments were credited to the bank accounts of the farmers concerned within three days of procurement..
