HYDERABAD: Continuing their special drive against drunk drivers, traffic police caught 724 drivers till January 15 for driving the vehicles in an inebriated state. The traffic police informed that this special drive against drunk driving and other traffic violations will continue for the safety of commuters and pedestrians. Out of these, 10 were permanently cancelled and 46 were suspended temporarily.The total fine amount imposed on these violators by the courts is ?15,46,600. All the violators that were sentenced to imprisonment were sent to Chanchalguda jail. Police filed chargesheets against the offenders in the Metropolitan Magistrate courts, resulting in 79 persons being sentenced to imprisonment for varying durations and driving licenses of 56 persons was either permanently cancelled or suspended..
