One senior cop in each constituency for LS polls

HYDERABAD: Gearing up for the upcoming Lok sabha elections, district election authorities have decided to appoint one police officer (assistant commissioner of police rank) for each constituency in Hyderabad. Similarly in Secunderabad, the authorities have proposed an addition of 99 polling stations and a change of location for 58 polling stations. Apart from the identification of critical polling stations, rationalisation of all polling stations is also being done.Three parliamentary constituencies — Hyderabad, Secunderabad and parts of Malkajgiri are in Hyderabad district. The mapping is being done by identifying polling stations which have had untoward incidents in past polls.The police department is also rolling out a plan of action ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Hyderabad parliamentary constituency, post rationalisation, has 1,935 polling stations for 19,32,926 voters (as on Feburary 10) while Secunderabad has 1,809 stations for 19,14,954 voters.District election authorities have proposed for 51 new polling stations in Hyderabad and change in location of 53 poll stations..
