Hostel cuts 150 girl students hair to save water

A+ A-Medak: As many as 150 girl students of a gurukul school in Telangana’s Medak district were allegedly forced to get a haircut by the principal, all because there was not enough water in the hostel for them to bathe regularly. According to media reports, the incident, which reportedly took place two days back at Medak’s Tribal Girls Gurukul School, came to light on Tuesday after parents of the girl, students visited the hostel on Sunday only to find their daughters with short hair. The girls alleged that the school principal K Aruna had allegedly called two barbers to the hostel and forcibly got their haircut and later forced the girl students to pay Rs 25 each. Water ShortageHowever, the school principal accepted the charges related to water shortage and added that the girls at school were suffering from lice infestation and other dermatological diseases. The principal also claimed that the consent of students was taken into consideration before the decision was taken as it was difficult for students to wash their clothes and take bathe due to water shortage..
