Summary:

Students’ union claimed that CAA goes against the spirit of the Constitution which guarantees equality before law without prejudice to religion, race, caste, sex, and place of birth or any of them. The MANUU students’ union asserted that the newly-designed National Population Register (NPR) ‘is creating distress and anxiety among the common people and is considered to be the first step towards NRC. Citing the failure of NRC in Assam the students union in the letter noted that CAA, NRC and NPR are against the Indian Constitution and threat to secular ethos of this country. The students’ union reportedly sent the letter to nine non-BJP ruled state chief ministers, requesting all of them to pass Assembly resolutions against CAA and NRC. Though the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had voted against the CAA in Parliament, Telangana CM KCR is tightlipped on implementation of CAA-NRC-NPR in the state..
