Water tops the charts in the manifesto of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.

The TRS has promised free water supply for most consumers in Hyderabad and free power supply for certain categories of people.

There will be no water tax if the monthly consumption of drinking water is below 20,000 litres.

Power will be provided free of cost to salons, dhobi ghats and laundries, the manifesto assured.

The free drinking water supply would help 95 per cent of consumers in the city, TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao told reporters after releasing the 16-page party manifesto for the GHMC polls here at Telangana Bhavan on Monday.

The GHMC polls will be held on December 1.

There are around 10 lakh consumers having drinking water connections in Hyderabad.

The TRS manifesto also promised to waive motor vehicle tax for two quarters during the COVID-19 period.
