Forest officials in Hyderabad seize 36kg synthetic manja

In order to curb the usage of synthetic manja for kite flying, 187 shops were searched by 13 teams of forest staff and seized 36kg of banned synthetic manja in and around Hyderabad on Wednesday.

One person was arrested in Jagtial district and a Chinese manja worth Rs 10,000 seized from him.

Jagtial CCS police sub-inspector Srikanth raided the house of one Abdul Javed in Krishnanagar.

The arrested person has been handed over to Jagtial town police for further action.

Officials were on alert for the use of Chinese manja across the state in view of Sankranti.

Forest officials in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district also took up an awareness programme.

“There are a variety of birds in the forest area and Chinese manja poses a danger to them.
