Public representatives, including ministers and legislators, were part of the inaugural of the vaccination at various centres where television sets were arranged to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the launch of the vaccination programme.
Sanitation worker Murali was the first to take the vaccine at the government hospital in Komarambheem Asifabad district.
In Nizamabad district, roads and buildings minister V Prashanth Reddy cut a ribbon at the Government General Hospital, Nizamabad where the vaccination was done at the centre.
He and also district collector Narayana Reddy put a ‘mark’ on the persons who took the vaccine as per the guidelines.
In Warangal rural, minister E Dayakar Rao who was present during the vaccination given to the first person also advised the person to still take precautions until the second dose is given.
He also offered advice to the person not to consume alcohol.
At the Government General Hospital in Suryapet, a festive atmosphere prevailed.
The vaccination centre was decorated with balloons during the inaugural of the vaccination programme in which energy minister G Jagdeesh Reddy participated.
At many places when the vaccination was done, there was a round of applause from the health staff and officials who gathered.
Along with the ‘ribbon-cutting’, in some places, public representatives, officials and health staff, posed for photographs holding the vaccine in their hands.
In Rajanna Sircilla district, collector Krishna Bhaskar lighted a lamp marking the inaugural of the vaccination.
The place was also decorated with garlands.
