Secunderabad Cantonment to get its first fire station.

On Saturday morning Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) allotted 589 square yards for setting up the fire station.

This comes two years after Telangana state disaster response and fire services department proposed that the cantonment needs its own fire station.

The resolution was passed unanimously by the elected SCB members in a board meeting held on Saturday.

"The land is totally free from litigation and identified it in Teacher`s Colony in Trimulgherry and soon will be handed over to Telangana to set up a fire station," SCB chief executive officer, B Ajith Reddy said.
While all cantonment boards have separate fire stations, the Secunderabad Cantonment Board, which controls the second-largest cantonment in the country, does not have a fire service department.

It depends on the Telangana State Fire Services Department for any fire mishap in the cantonment area.
Meanwhile, the members talked about extending the `free water supply` scheme in the cantonment.

Cantonment board president Brigadier Abhijit Chandra assured to meet the Hyderabad Metropolitan and Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) regarding the same.

The board also passed a resolution to replace the old water trunks in the cantonment area.
This could be the last board meeting of the current SCB elected body as their tenure will end on February 10.
