IMPHAL: A joint team of central officials, stakeholders and political parties are all set to inspect the disputed border pillar number 81 along the India-Myanmar border on Wednesday.The central team, comprising joint secretary of ministry of external affairs (Bangladesh and Myanmar), S Ranganathan, joint secretary of ministry of home affairs (border management), AB Dharma Reddy, and surveyor general of India, Lt General Girish Kumar , arrived here in Imphal on Tuesday. CM N Biren Singh had earlier said the India-Myanmar border has remained "untouched and unaffected" since its construction in 1970. Revenue minister Karam Shyam, who recently led a high-powered committee to inspect the site, said some "political rivals" were portraying the issue in a wrong way. The officials then proceeded to the border town of Moreh in the afternoon. While some of the members are now camping at Moreh, a few others have already reached the remote village of Kwatha.The inspection of the border pillar comes after Kwatha villagers and some civil society leaders recently alleged that Myanmar authorities have shifted the pillar by 3km inside the border..
