Manipur HC seeks response on Manipur University

IMPHAL: With the stand-off at the Manipur University MU ) over the vice-chancellor's ouster showing no signs of resolution, human rights activist Kshetrimayum Onil has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in Manipur high court seeking an end to the impasse.For nearly two months, the university has been in a state of shutdown - with students and staff accusing vice-chancellor Adya Prashad Pandey of administrative negligence and financial irregularities and demanding his ouster. Onil has appealed that a high-level judicial inquiry or an appropriate commission, committee, tribunal or forum be initiated into the allegations against Pandey.After hearing the litigation, the court - headed by chief justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and justice N Kotiswar - on Tuesday issued notices to government officials and sought their replies..
