Moreh-Tamu land route opened for Indian travellers

IMPHAL: Unfolding a new era of bilateral ties with neighbouring Myanmar, the India-Myanmar land route was opened on Wednesday. Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh said the opening of the land route was historic. Any Indian with a valid passport and visa from the Myanmar consulate in Kolkata or its embassy in New Delhi, can visit the country through the Moreh-Tamu land route. Moreh, the focal point of India's Act East Policy and the corridor of South East Asia, witnesses business transactions over Rs 5 crore daily on India-Myanmar commercial activities.
