Governor discussed Manipur University crisis with PM Modi: CM

IMPHAL: Chief minister N Biren Singh on Thursday said governor Najma Heptulla had called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss various issues gripping Manipur, with the ongoing crisis at Manipur University being at the top of the agenda. The protesters' anger was compounded when Pandey headed an UGC team in inspecting a college in Nagaland a few days ago. The agitating community of the university are currently staging a relay hunger strike on the campus, demanding the removal of vice-chancellor Adya Prashad Pandey. The governor has just returned to Imphal from New Delhi after discussing several issues with the PM, Biren said on the sidelines of his official visit to the 'Apparel and Garment Making Centre' in Imphal West.Biren said his government will meet all stakeholders , including associations representing the varsity's students, teachers and staff, to bring about a solution to the issue..
